Catherine Ann Marshall, CFA
Catherine Ann Marshall is a global real estate expert with almost 20 years of experience in international property investment. Prior to becoming a global real assets expert consultant in 2008, she was the head of real estate research and global property strategy at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), one of the largest investors in global real estate and real assets. This leading real estate strategist role capped off a career of senior executive positions. Immediately prior to CPPIB, Catherine was Senior Vice President at LaSalle Investment Management and was a member of the LaSalle Global Real Estate Strategy Committee. In addition, she has worked at the B.C. Investment Management Corporation (bcIMC), Genus Capital Management, and Canadian Urban Equities.
Catherine has extensive experience in both private and public real assets. Early in her career she managed REIT and income trust portfolios as a sub-advisor to the Maritime Life Mutual Funds, and went on to support LaSalle Global REIT mandates.
Catherine Ann Marshall is an active industry leader, speaker and commentator. She is currently the Chair, CFA Society Toronto Alternative Investments Committee, and is a member of the RealPAC Research Committee. She frequently moderates or speaks on industry panels, is interviewed by the media, and writes articles for publications as diverse as Investment and Pensions Europe (IPE), Apartment Magazine, the Real Estate Forum and The CFA Analyst.
Catherine holds an HBA in Economics and Urban Geography from Queen’s University, an MA in Economics and Finance from Simon Fraser University, and was awarded her CFA charter in 1997.
